The Intervention serves as a physical barrier between us and nature but invites us to be aware of its place and the nature it encloses.
SITE ANALYSIS
Lyndon B. Johnson Library:
A historical presidential site built in 1966. It is a brutalist monolithic structure associated with political movements and activism. Lady Bird Johnson, in particular, was an environmental activist. The plants currently surrounding the building were planted in her name.

CONCEPT
I decided to intervene by building overly large terrariums. The glass monolithic structures are meant to mirror the form of the building itself while creating a barrier between passerbys and the plant life. This barrier is minimal in the sense that the plants can still be seen but are untouchable.
The contrast between the urban qualities of the box and the ever-growing life it contains emphasizes the necessity to preserve nature in our modern world.
